Eulogy of Ö

A direct quotation of Ö (drawing on canvas from 2016 - can be found here), this pair of drawings plays on the perspective of life, on being aware of the day. When Ö (2016) was poetically referring to the night revealing much more than the day ("öö" is Estonian for "night"), this pair takes us to the breaking points, Dusk and Dawn.
During the day we feel safe, more alert.
We see each step.
The night brings darkness, the visibility disappears and takes us with it.
But when we look beyond our next step,
the night opens up the sky and reveals much more than what we can see during the day.
Even the light from the past.
Light with a disappeared source.
The daylight blinds us with the energy from our closest star,
but we feel safe,
because we can see our feet.
Ignorance.
